Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and askwords.ai for the use of askwords.ai: the free check, a paid plan, the website and the askwords tag. They set out what you may do, what we owe you, what happens to your money, and what the service does and does not promise. How we handle personal data is a separate document: the Privacy Policy.

01The agreement
askwords.ai (“askwords”, “we”, “us”) provides the askwords.ai service. By running a check, creating an account, buying a plan or installing the askwords tag, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are agreeing on behalf of a company or another person, you confirm that you are authorized to bind them, and “you” means both you and them.
The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms. Where the two documents overlap, for example on how long we keep your results, the Privacy Policy governs.
You must be at least 16 to use askwords.ai. It is a tool for businesses and the people who work for them.
02What the service is
askwords.ai asks buyer questions of AI answer engines, records what they answer about a brand, scores how visible that brand is in those answers, and, on a paid plan, repeats the questions on a schedule so you can see what changed and work through a prioritized action plan.
It is a measurement and reporting tool. It observes public AI answers; it does not control them, and nothing in it gives you influence over what an engine says. §7 says this in the specific.
03Your account
Sign-in is passwordless: we email a link to the address on your account, and whoever controls that inbox controls the account. Keep the inbox secure, and tell us at support@askwords.ai if you believe someone else has reached your account.
An account is for one person. Your team can share the brands and reports it produces; a login is not to be passed around. Give us an email address you actually read. Sign-in links, change notifications and notices under these terms all go there, and a notice we send to that address counts as delivered.
You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for making sure the people you share output with are entitled to see it.
04Plans, limits and fair use
What a plan grants is set out on the pricing page and summarized here. Limits are per account, across every brand the account owns, not per brand.
| Plan | Price | What it includes | Enforced cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $29.99/month or $299.90/year | 1 brand · 10 buyer questions · 4 answer engines | 10 askwords |
| Pro | $69.99/month or $699.90/year | Up to 5 brands · 30 buyer questions total · 5 answer engines | 30 askwords |
| Ultra | $199.99/month or $1999.90/year | Up to 25 brands · 100 buyer questions total · 7 answer engines | 100 askwords |
Fair use. Each brand is checked at most once a calendar day in its own timezone, whether that check is scheduled or one you asked for. When more brands are due than a scheduling tick can serve, we favor the accounts that have had the fewest checks that day, so a large portfolio cannot crowd out a single-brand account. On-demand rechecks are capped as your plan describes.
Every check costs us real money at an AI provider, so we may apply reasonable additional limits to protect the service, and we may contact you before doing anything that would reduce what you are paying for.
We may change what a plan includes. If a change materially reduces what you already pay for, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused paid period.
05The free check
The free check runs without an account. It is limited per IP address per day, and the whole service has a daily ceiling, because each run spends money at an AI provider and a free tool with no ceiling is a free tool with a bill.
This means the free check can be unavailable: because you have used your allowance, because the day’s global budget is spent, or because we have changed the limits. We offer it as a courtesy and give no undertaking that it will be available at any given moment. Paid plans are not subject to these particular limits.
06Billing, renewal and cancellation
Who takes the money. Checkout and invoicing run through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. They are the seller for the transaction: they calculate VAT and sales tax for your country, take the payment, and issue your receipt. Their terms govern the payment itself, and card details never reach our servers.
Renewal. Plans renew automatically for the billing period you chose at checkout, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. The price shown at checkout is the price charged; a yearly plan is charged once for the year.
Cancellation. Cancel any time from the billing portal in your dashboard. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the account falls back to free.
Refunds. Payments are non-refundable, and we do not refund partial periods. Cancelling mid-month or mid-year does not produce a credit for the unused part. Two exceptions: where mandatory consumer law in your country gives you a withdrawal or refund right, that right applies regardless of this paragraph and nothing here limits it; and where we materially reduce a plan you have paid for, §4 gives you a pro-rata refund. Beyond that, if something has genuinely gone wrong, write to support@askwords.ai. We would rather hear about it than hide behind this section.
Failed payments. If a renewal fails, we will retry and let you know. If it stays unpaid, the account falls back to free: scheduled checks stop, and your history stays intact for the retention period in the Privacy Policy.
Price changes. We may change prices. We will give at least 30 days’ notice by email, and a change takes effect at your next renewal, never mid-period. Carry on and the new price applies; cancel before renewal and it does not.
Prices are in US dollars unless the checkout says otherwise, and exclude taxes that Lemon Squeezy adds at checkout.
07What askwords does not promise
This is the section to read before you buy. These limits are inherent to what the product measures, and no plan removes them.
| We do not promise | Why |
|---|---|
| That you will be recommended more often | Answer engines decide for themselves which brands and sources to include. Askwords helps you find gaps, prioritize work and observe what changes afterwards. It cannot make an engine mention you, and no part of your subscription is contingent on an engine doing so. |
| That a result will match what you see in your own AI account | We query the engines without your personal account history. Personal history, account settings, location and the time of asking all change an answer. A difference between our result and yours is expected behavior, not a defect. |
| That a change we detect was caused by anything you did | A changed answer is evidence to investigate, not proof of cause. Engines update models and sources continuously and without notice to us. |
| That search-demand figures describe AI usage | Demand figures are worldwide monthly Google search volume for the topic behind a question, supplied by a third party. They are context for choosing questions. They are not the volume of that exact question, and they do not measure how often anyone asks an AI chatbot anything. |
| That every engine stays available | We check the engines listed for your plan through their APIs and through third-party retrieval. A provider can change, price, restrict or withdraw access at any time. If an engine becomes unavailable we will tell you and, where the change is material and lasting, adjust the plan or the price rather than quietly ship less. |
| That the output is advice | Action plans are automated suggestions based on public answers. They are not legal, financial, marketing or professional advice, and you remain responsible for what you do with them. |
Nothing said on our website, in an action plan, or by us in support constitutes a guarantee of a commercial result. Where we describe what the product does, we mean what it does, not an outcome it produces for your business.
08Acceptable use
You agree not to do any of the following:
- Reselling, sublicensing or redistributing access to the service itself, or offering it as part of a competing product. Using results in your own client reporting is expressly allowed. That is what the agency plans are for.
- Creating multiple accounts, or using automation, proxies or shared IP addresses, to get around free-check limits, plan limits or fair-use scheduling.
- Scraping, crawling or bulk-extracting the service, or accessing it by any automated means other than an interface we document.
- Reverse engineering, decompiling or attempting to derive our source code, prompts, scoring model or question generation, except where that restriction is void under applicable law.
- Probing, scanning or testing the security of the service, or interfering with it, without our prior written permission.
- Submitting content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that you have no right to submit; or entering a brand in order to harass, impersonate or disparage someone.
- Using the service to build or train a competing model or dataset from our outputs.
- Any use that breaks the law where you are, or that breaches the terms of the underlying AI providers.
Anyone may check any public brand or business name, including one that is not theirs. The service reads public AI answers, and that is what makes competitor comparison possible. That freedom does not extend to the uses listed above.
09Your content and your data
You keep what is yours. The brands, questions and other inputs you submit remain yours, along with the results produced for them. We claim no ownership of your business, your brand or your data.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process and transmit that content strictly as needed to run the service for you, including sending your questions to the AI answer engines, which is the whole mechanism. §12 covers what that means, and the Privacy Policy states exactly what is and is not sent.
You confirm you have the right to submit what you submit, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
We may produce aggregated, de-identified statistics from service usage (how many checks run, how engines behave in general) and use them to operate and improve the product and to write about the market. These never identify you, your account or your brands.
If you send us feedback or a feature idea, we may use it without obligation or payment. You are not required to send us any.
10The askwords tag
The askwords tag is the optional script you add to your own website to see visits arriving from AI assistants. It is cookieless and collects no personal data; what it sends is itemised in the Privacy Policy.
You decide to install it, on a site you control, and you remain responsible for your own privacy notice and for any consent or disclosure your local law requires of you. For that data you are the controller and we act as your processor.
We give no warranty that the tag is compatible with every site, theme, consent manager or content-security policy, and we are not liable for the performance of your website. Remove the script and reporting stops.
11Our intellectual property
The service belongs to us and our licensors: the software, design, wording, the visibility score and the method behind it, the question generation, and the askwords.ai name and marks. These terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service while your account is in good standing, and nothing more.
You may share and republish reports and share links produced for your own brands, including with your clients. You may not present the service itself as your own product.
12Third-party services and AI output
Running a check means asking independent third parties (OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, xAI and Anthropic among them) and reporting what they said. We pass their output through with as little interference as we can, which is the point.
It follows that AI output shown in askwords.ai may be inaccurate, out of date, biased, or unflattering about you or someone else. We do not author it, verify it or endorse it, and we are not responsible for its content. If an answer about your brand is wrong, the remedy lies with the engine, not with us, though finding it is precisely what the product is for.
We also rely on third parties for delivery, storage, payment and retrieval, listed in the Privacy Policy. Their availability is outside our control.
13Availability, changes and support
We aim to keep askwords.ai running and to check on the cadence your plan describes, but we do not currently offer a service level agreement, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, provider outages and rate limits at the engines can all delay a scheduled check.
We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something material that you pay for, §4 applies. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will give at least 30 days’ notice, stop charging, refund the unused part of any period paid in advance, and give you a window to export your data.
Support is by email at support@askwords.ai and through the contact form. We aim to reply within two business days.
14Suspension and termination
You can leave whenever you like. Cancel from the billing portal, or ask us to delete the account entirely at privacy@askwords.ai.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is using the service in a way that threatens its stability or its cost, that has not paid, or where we are required to by law. Except where the breach is serious or repeated, or where the law prevents it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
On termination your right to use the service ends. Data is deleted according to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should outlast the agreement survive it: §9, §11, §15, §16, §17 and §19.
15Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or trade usage.
We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, that results will be accurate or complete, that any defect will be corrected, or that the outputs of third-party AI systems are true.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is so, the exclusions above apply only as far as that law permits, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
16Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, lost goodwill, or lost or corrupted data, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if warned that they were possible.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) US$100.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under mandatory consumer protection law.
These limits reflect what the product is: a subscription measuring public AI answers, at a price that could not carry unlimited exposure. If your use case needs different terms, write to legal@askwords.ai rather than assuming these ones bend.
17Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, content you submit that you had no right to submit, or your deployment of the askwords tag on a site you do not control or without the disclosures your law requires.
We will tell you promptly about any such claim, let you control the defence of it (with our reasonable cooperation), and not settle it in a way that admits fault on your behalf without your consent.
18Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product and the law change. The date at the top always reflects the current version; this one was last updated on 7 September 2026.
For material changes we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email to account holders or by prominent notice on the site, and the change takes effect at the end of that notice period, and for paid accounts no earlier than your next renewal. Continuing to use askwords.ai after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, cancel before then.
19Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware for any dispute arising out of these terms or the service, and each of us waives any objection to that venue.
Talk to us first. Before starting proceedings, email a description of the dispute to legal@askwords.ai. We will try to resolve it with you within 30 days. This is a condition of bringing a claim, except where you are seeking urgent injunctive relief.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own courts and under your own law, this section does not take that right away from you.
20General
Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service, and replace anything said before.
Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, it is narrowed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force.
No waiver. Not enforcing a provision once does not waive it.
Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you.
Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including outages at the AI providers and infrastructure we depend on.
No agency. These terms create no partnership, agency or employment relationship between us.
Notices. We give notice by email to your account address or by posting on the site. You give notice by email to legal@askwords.ai.
